Mixja ma’ Kristu bħala persuna LGBTIQ

Forsi minħabba t-trobbija tagħna, ħafna minna jaħsbu li l-ispiritwalità u s–sesswalità huma għedewwa ta’ xulxin. Nażżarda ngħid li għal min jaqa’ taħt l-ispektrum tar-realtà gay din it-taqtigħa taf tkun aktar qawwija, speċjalment għal dawk li għadhom jaħsbu li l-imħabba bejn raġel u raġel, jew mara u mara, hi ħażina.

Fil-każ tiegħi, li trabbejt bħala Kattoliku, fejn l-identità tiegħi bħala nisrani kienet, u għadha importanti ħafna, u fejn, fuq kollox, il-ħbiberija tiegħi ma’ Kristu tgħarraf id-deċiżjonijiet ta’ ħajti, din id-dilemma ħawditni ħafna, u kelli nagħmel mixja twila, bl-għajnuna ta’ diversi nies, biex nasal għal trankwillità u l-paċi li jwiegħdna Ġesù stess. Huma dawn il-ħsibijiet, fil-qosor, ta’ din il-mixja li nixtieq naqsam.

L-ewwel ħaġa li għandna dejjem inżommu f’moħħna hija li l-mixja hija differenti għal kulħadd. Aħna bnedmin, kollha bl-istorja u l-bagalja tagħna li nġorru magħna. Ġesù biss huwa kostanti. Għalhekk ir-relazzjoni li nesperjenza jien miegħu ma tistax tkun l-istess bħalma jesperjenzaha xi ħaddieħor. Imma għax Ġesù huwa kostanti, il-prinċipji ewlenin dejjem jibqgħu l-istess, li joħorġu bil-qawwa fl-istorja ta’ kull persuna, minkejja l-ġrajjiet tant u tant differenti.

Il-prinċipju li għandu dejjem idawwal l-għażla ta’ kull Nisrani huwa l-għażla għall-imħabba. Jekk persuna tagħmel li tista’ biex tfittex li tħobb, mela qed tkun tassew wild ta’ Alla, li huwa l-imħabba totali. L-imħabba ma tistax tkun żbaljata. Għax wara kollox, kif jgħid Santu Wistin, ‘Ħobb u agħmel li trid!’

Imma dana kollu ma jistax iwassal għall-abbuż? Speċjalment fejn tidħol l-imħabba, wieħed ma jistax jgħid li dak li jħoss li hi imħabba ma tkun imħabba xejn, imma emozzjoni li taf titwieled u wara ftit tmut? Dan kollu minnu, u ta’ min jgħid li dan il-parir huwa siewi kemm għal min hu straight kif ukoll għal min hu gay. Il-prudenza f’dawn id-deċiżjonijiet titlob li l-bniedem jitlob regolarment biex isaqsi lil Alla jekk din ir-relazzjoni hiex minsuġa fuq l-imħabba, kif ukoll jagħmel akkumpanjament spiritwali ma’ xi ħadd kapaċi biex imexxih. (Mhux kull qassis hu mħarreġ biex ikun direttur spiritwali). Huwa kliem San Pawl li jaf ikun l-aħjar għodda ta’ dixxerniment: kull azzjoni ta’ imħabba mal-medda taż-żmien għandha twassal għall-frott tal-Ispirtu Santu (Galatin 5, 25-26).

Illum il-ġurnata nemmen li l-Mulej wassalni biex nibda nifhem li nista’ nsir bniedem iktar sħiħ permezz tar-relazzjoni li għandi ma’ raġel ieħor, li flimkien qegħdin f’mixja spiritwali kemm bħala individwi u kemm bħala koppja. Nirċievu wkoll ħafna sostenn minn sħabna fi Drachma li wkoll bħalna jfittxu li jgħaqqdu flimkien l-identità LGBTIQ mal-ħajja intima li għandhom ma’ Kristu. Ġesù jħobbna fir-realtà li nħlaqna fiha, biex permezz ta’ din ir-realtà nkunu nistgħu nagħmlu l-iskoperta tal-ġmiel tal-Imħabba, li għaliha kollha kemm aħna msejjħa.

Drachma (Drachma LGBTI and Drachma Parents Group) is a space open to all persons of good will who seek sexual and spiritual integration. It includes lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transgendered and intersex persons, as well as friends of LGBTIQ persons who wish to meet to pray together and explore the intersections between sexuality, gender, gender identity, faith, spirituality and religion. It also includes parents, siblings, relatives and all those who wish to accompany and support LGBTIQ people, and other parents and relatives of LGBTIQ persons in their life journeys.

    “Although the particular inclination of the homosexual person is not a sin… special concern and pastoral attention should be directed toward those who have this condition, lest they be led to believe that the living out of this orientation in homosexual activity is a morally acceptable option. It is not.”

    2357 Homosexuality refers to relations between men or between women who experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex. It has taken a great variety of forms through the centuries and in different cultures. Its psychological genesis remains largely unexplained. Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity,141 tradition has always declared that “homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered.”142 They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.

    2358 The number of men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible. This inclination, which is objectively disordered, constitutes for most of them a trial. They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided. These persons are called to fulfill God’s will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord’s Cross the difficulties they may encounter from their condition.

    2359 Homosexual persons are called to chastity. By the virtues of self-mastery that teach them inner freedom, at times by the support of disinterested friendship, by prayer and sacramental grace, they can and should gradually and resolutely approach Christian perfection.
